2011 marked the 75th anniversary of the Sayre Public Library. In 1936, during the Great Depression, the Library opened with 1,600 donated books and $300 in cash from the Monday Club. During those hard economic times, the cash and book donations represented efforts and courage on each donor’s part. Throughout the years, the generosity, vision, and dedication of those early benefactors have allowed so many to have access to a great community library.
